Off-the-shelf curtains are a compromise. They're designed to fit a range of windows approximately — which means they rarely fit yours perfectly. Custom-made curtains, on the other hand, are built specifically for your windows, your ceiling height, and your style.
Here's what the process looks like when you work with Future Furniture.
Step 1: Free In-Home Consultation
We come to you. One of our consultants visits your home, assesses your windows, and discusses your requirements — light control, privacy, insulation, style, and budget. We bring fabric samples so you can see how they look in your actual space, under your actual lighting.
This step is free and carries no obligation.
Step 2: Measurement
Accurate measurement is everything with custom curtains. We measure the window width, the drop, the ceiling height, and the wall space available for the track or rod. We also check for any obstacles — architraves, cornices, or recesses — that affect how the curtain will hang.
Step 3: Fabric & Style Selection
You choose from our range of fabrics — sheers, blockouts, linens, velvets, and more — and select your heading style: S-fold wave, pinch pleat, eyelet, Italian pleat, or French pleat. Each creates a different silhouette and suits different interior styles.
We'll guide you on what works best for your room and windows.
Step 4: Manufacturing
Your curtains are custom made to your exact specifications. Lead times vary depending on fabric availability and complexity, but we'll give you a clear timeline upfront.
Step 5: Professional Installation
Our team installs your curtains, including the track or rod, brackets, and any hardware. We ensure everything hangs correctly, the drop is precise, and the finish is clean.
What Does It Cost?
Custom curtains vary in price depending on fabric, heading style, window size, and the number of windows. We provide a detailed, itemised quote after the in-home consultation — no surprises.
